Learn, discover, and build your own food forest.

BOSK is a strategic board game for 11–12 year old pupils in which they learn how a food forest works in a playful way. By placing tiles representing different layers – such as roots, plants, shrubs, and trees – players build their own forest step by step.

Each turn, you draw tiles without knowing which ones you will get. By placing them smartly, a strong and diverse food forest is created. The game encourages strategic thinking and shows how different layers in nature work together.

The goal is to create a food forest that is as strong and varied as possible. The game ends when someone calls “BOSK” or when the board or tiles are full.

How does the game work?

Line-up

  • Each player blindly draws 7 tiles from the bag.

  • These tiles are strategically placed face down on their own game board (similar to Stratego).

  • Next, one player places 14 tiles in the bag, face down.

Game flow

  1. Player 1 starts and draws 3 tiles from the bag without knowing which ones they are.

  2. The player turns over the tiles and places them strategically on the board.

  3. Players 2, 3, and 4 repeat these steps. After each round, the starting player moves one space forward.

  4. So, in the next round, player 2 starts, then player 3, and so on.

End of the game

The game ends when one of the following situations occurs:

  • A player takes the tree token from the center and shouts “BOSK!”, because they think their food forest is optimal.

  • The bag of tiles is empty.

  • A player's game board is completely filled.
